Nurturing Hearts is an organization that provides leadership and life skills, which furnish and prepare at risk teenage girls, between the ages of 10-18, in the inner city for a bright and positive future. We empower young women to have productive futures through holistic, gender specific programs, educations and experiences that are unique to young women. Nurturing Hearts is committed to community building, establishing relationships with social service providers, churches, school, law enforcement and citizens groups. We broker these services based on the individual needs of each girl and her family. We develop self-sufficient adults, equipped with the capacity to continuously evolve emotionally, physically, and spiritually; building strong family units, developing a strong support system and contributing to community life.

Leadership

Leadership Programs utilize  ‘sister teams’ with a focus on projects that teach leadership skills.  Through this effort, girls will build positive relationships, explore personal strengths and gain self-confidence.

Self-Esteem

We utilize round table discussions and support classes to review and give guidance concerning numerous peer pressure issues, such as premarital sex, drug/alchohol abuse, teen pregnancy, dropping out of school, smoking, and education on recognizing physical and emotional abuse.
