(Motivated, Optimistic, Determined, Educated, and Love for Self)
Our 6 month program is once a week for 2 hours. It consist of fun group discussions, role plays, lesson plans lectures, field trips, make overs and professional modeling techniques. You will also be a part of our annual self-esteem fashion show.
Spiritual Empowerment
Bible teachings will from healthy self-esteem, help each young woman recognize their individual beauty and unique gifts. We focus on God’s love, protection and strength through faith.
Music
We use music and the arts to help erase the mentality of sex and drugs that permeate music today. This program will show each young woman how to express herself while not compromising self respect.
Princess of Etiquette
Our princess of etiquette program teaches girls how to become comfortable with their own identify and focuses on gaining positive self-esteem though partnerships with local organizations to create a confidence driven fashion show.
Self-Esteem
We utilize round table discussions and support classes to review and give guidance concerning numerous peer pressure issues, such as premarital sex, drug/alchohol abuse, teen pregnancy, dropping out of school, smoking, and education on recognizing physical and emotional abuse.
Mirror Reflections
Through the use of role models, and teaching women’s history, Nuturing Hearts works to educate young girls on the strength of the human spirit.
Leadership
Leadership Programs utilize ‘sister teams’ with a focus on projects that teach leadership skills. Through this effort, girls will build positive relationships, explore personal strengths and gain self-confidence.
Dominique Kafando struggled to stay in school just 12 months ago. The Central Career and Technical School student had D's and F's on her report card, and had been assigned to Central's alternative-education school. "I was missing a lot of classes," said Kafando, 18. "I didn't care much about school." A teacher referred Kafando to Nurturing Hearts, a local nonprofit organization that provides leadership and life skills for teenage girls.
