Nurturing Hearts has changed my attitude completely. I’ve been through so much in my life. If it wasn’t for this program, I don’t know if some of my situations I went through would have came out so smooth and calm. One situation I was in occurred last year. My mother’s fiancé had just got out of jail, no problem with that, I was happy. She started taking money my father gives me for support and started giving it to him and used it for bills and other expenses. I started going without things. Sure I wanted things everyone else wanted, but what 15 or 16-year-old girl wouldn’t? I put myself aside because they said they needed it. I went without so many things to make them happy, so that I wouldn’t seem like I was being selfish.

I’m here to let everyone know how excited I am to be with the Nurturing hearts group, how proud I am of myself, and how much I’ve changed since Ms. Shawnta’ walked into my life. Before I was introduced to this group, I didn’t think I was good enough to hold my head up and be proud of whom I was and the family I came from. I didn’t think that people would accept me because I wasn’t as pretty as the other girls around me and I didn’t believe in myself. I didn’t think I would be able to make it through the rest of my school years. Things used to be so hard on me, I felt as if I couldn’t take it anymore! Just in time, Nurturing Hearts took time out to help me move on, get my head on straight and showed me a way to being a better person. They gave me hope that I could make it and that I am just as good as everyone else.

This program to me is a learning experience, because if I had changed, I would still be that insecure person that put myself down, and didn’t care what people said. I look in the mirror every day and I tell myself that I am beautiful. I am a beautiful person inside and out. Graduated Highschool GPA 3.0 Attends College in Atlanta
