Nurturing Hearts is a self-esteem and self development non profit organization that provides supportive leadership and life skills, which furnish and prepare at risk girls, between the ages of 10-18, for a bright and positive future. We empower young women to have productive futures through holistic, gender specific programs, educations and experiences that are unique to young women. Nurturing Hearts, is committed to community building, establishing relationships with social service providers, churches, schools, law enforcement and citizens groups. We broker these services based on the individual needs of each girl and her family. Our goal is to develop self-sufficient adults, equipped with the capacity to continuously evolve emotionally, physically, and spiritually; building strong family units, developing a strong support system and contributing to community life.

Sponsor a Girl and Become a Nurturing Hearts Partner! Although you can make a donation to Nurturing Hearts in any amount, the amount for one girl to participate in our six month positive self-esteem, healthy life style, and career options program is $175, which consist of lectures, interactive workshops, and group discussions on how to conquer your dreams, how to develop positive self-esteem, goal and career setting, motivational speaking, recreational activities, educational field trips and mentoring.

Classes are held on Thursdays or Fridays during and after school for 2 hours each session. We have 12 week and 6 month programs available.

Dominique Kafando struggled to stay in school just 12 months ago. The Central Career and Technical School student had D's and F's on her report card, and had been assigned to Central's alternative-education school. "I was missing a lot of classes," said Kafando, 18. "I didn't care much about school." A teacher referred Kafando to Nurturing Hearts, a local nonprofit organization that provides leadership and life skills for teenage girls.
